Every now and then Lord Amothus has sent out archaeological expeditions to
scour a valley within the mountains east of Palanthas. This time it seems
that they have found various artifacts of interest deep in the valley.
Amothus is quite pleased as his treasury is low due to the last two
expeditions resulting in the archaeologists never returning. Although the
valley is normally off limits to adventurers and lay people, due to an
increase in crime in Palanthas, guards are no longer being posted at the
valley entrance. Some adventurers who have been within the depths of the
valley tell a tale of two brothers, one striving for freedom while the
other strives to stop his brother of achieving his goal. Other adventurers
simply become so lost and confused that they quit and return to their
homes in Palanthas.
Many critters have made a new home for themselves in the unpopulated valley
and would be easy for an adventurer of low level [1-8]. The treetops,
however, are rumored to house diseased animals and departed souls. One
would be wise to bring a companion; after all, two heads are better than
one. There are rumors of more difficult fights in the ruined city itself,
appropriate for more experienced low-level characters [7-12]
Thieves who have infiltrated Lord Amothus' palace have been telling tales
in the Palanthas Inn that the valley is somewhere east of Palanthas near
the mountains.
